About the Role

The Irrigation Field Supervisor directs and oversees an assigned team of irrigation technicians across a defined portfolio of commercial properties, serving as the primary field liaison between technicians and leadership.

This role is accountable for technician supervision, quality control, and field execution across system installations, leak repairs, seasonal controller adjustments, smart water solutions, and drip line extensions. The Irrigation Field Supervisor also identifies additional project opportunities during site visits to support revenue growth and client retention.

This role reports to the Maintenance Operations Manager and is responsible for ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and water management standards across all properties in its assigned portfolio.

What You'll Do

  • Team Leadership & Technician Development
  • Directs and oversees the daily work of an assigned team of irrigation technicians in the field, serving as their primary point of accountability

Field Operations Supervision & Quality Control

  • Oversees daily irrigation operations across an assigned portfolio of properties
  • Conducts regular site visits and systematic assessments and audits to verify system performance, installation quality, and project progress
  • Directs technicians in troubleshooting field issues, including system failures, leaks, and controller malfunctions, to minimize downtime and maintain quality
  • Conducts inspections on completed work, including pressure checks, coverage tests, and system audits
  • Ensures all installations and repairs meet company expectations, local codes, and industry standards
  • Performs system start-ups and walkthroughs with team and clients when required

Project Management & Revenue Generation

  • Identifies and pursues additional billable irrigation work during site visits, including repairs, upgrades, and system improvements
  • Creates comprehensive project proposals, including scope, pricing, and illustrations, and submits to the Client Success Team for client approval
  • Develops client budgets and project timelines in support of monthly and annual revenue targets
  • Trains technicians to recognize and communicate revenue opportunities identified in the field
  • Follows up on proposals and outstanding items to ensure client satisfaction and conversion of recommended work into billable services
  • Coordinates with the Client Success Team throughout the project lifecycle

Technical Oversight of Installations & Repairs

  • Oversees installation of irrigation systems, including mainlines, lateral lines, valves, heads, and controllers
  • Ensures proper system setup, including zoning, pressure regulation, and coverage efficiency
  • Directs technicians in diagnosing and resolving complex repairs and system upgrades
  • Verifies proper programming and functionality of controllers, including smart irrigation technology
  • Operates equipment occasionally as needed to demonstrate proper technique or support technicians during peak workload

Water Management & Compliance

  • Promotes water-efficient practices and proper system calibration across all managed properties
  • Stays current on local water regulations, restrictions, and rebate programs, and ensures technician compliance
  • Ensures systems are optimized for efficiency, minimizing waste and supporting sustainability initiatives
  • Documents system analysis, repairs, and recommendations in standardized reports

Inventory, Equipment & Documentation

  • Monitors and maintains inventory levels of irrigation parts and supplies
  • Ensures proper use, care, and maintenance of tools and equipment by technicians
  • Coordinates equipment sharing and usage across technicians to maximize productivity
  • Reports damaged or malfunctioning equipment promptly
  • Maintains detailed records of all services performed

Other duties as assigned based on business needs and client requirements.

Who We're Looking For

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Minimum 5 years of irrigation field experience, including installation, maintenance, and repair
  • Demonstrated experience directing or supervising the work of an assigned team of field technicians
  • Advanced knowledge of irrigation systems, hydraulics, and controller programming
  • Proficiency with both manual and smart irrigation systems (e.G., Hunter, Rain Bird, Toro, Weathermatic)
  • Ability to read and interpret irrigation plans, blueprints, and site maps
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in the field
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build client relationships, assess needs, and negotiate
  • Valid state driver's license with clearance of five-year MVR record in accordance with Encore Landscape Management MVR standards and policies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Irrigation Association (IA) Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT) or higher;
    Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA) and Certified Irrigation Designer (CID) a plus
  • Experience with central control systems and ET-based smart controllers
  • Knowledge of local water authority regulations, rebate programs, and compliance requirements
  • Experience in a commercial landscape services or property management environment
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with job costing, work order systems, and field reporting tools
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace applications (Drive, Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets)
  • OSHA 10-hour safety certification
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to supervise multiple technicians and projects simultaneously

Physical Requirements

This is a highly active, field-based role requiring extensive physical activity and frequent travel between multiple commercial properties. You must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including the extreme heat typical of Arizona summers, with exposure to dust, landscape materials, irrigation water, and underground utility environments.

The position requires the ability to perform sustained physical labor including digging, trenching, and pipe laying, lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds, and work in confined spaces and trenches. You must be able to walk properties on uneven terrain, maintain the visual acuity to assess system performance and identify leaks, and hear and communicate effectively in active outdoor environments.
