Senior National Commercial Title Underwriting Counsel

New York, New York - Hybrid

Base salary - $200,000 - $350,000 w/added bonus

Our client, a leading organization in the title insurance and real estate services space, is seeking a Senior National Commercial Title Underwriting Counsel to join its team.

About the Role

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex commercial real estate transactions, providing underwriting guidance, risk assessment, and strategic support to internal stakeholders and clients across the country.

Responsibilities

• Provide underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to company personnel, agents, and customers, related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies.
\n
• Apply underwriting standards to assess risk and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
\n
• Provide guidance to internal teams on real estate settlement services and transaction structure.
\n
• Develop and communicate underwriting guidelines and best practices in alignment with organizational standards.
\n
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support efficient and successful transaction execution.
\n

Qualifications

\n
• JD from an ABA-accredited law school required.
\n
• Active Bar Admission in New York, in good standing.
\n
• 5+ years of substantive experience in national title insurance underwriting or comparable commercial real estate experience in a law firm setting.
\n
• General understanding of the process of underwriting real estate transactions for the issuance of title insurance policies.
\n
• Ability to interpret and apply underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits.
\n
• Solid understanding of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of real estate transactions, title and settlement processes.
\n
• Must be familiar with applicable real estate law, including federal and state regulations.
\n

Pay range and compensation package

• Salary: $200,000 - $350,000
